Sonnet # 147 Poem by John A. Hancock

Sonnet # 147

I felt a gentle breeze pass by
A hint of lavender relay'd
Like a lover did caress me
So sweet the kiss of May
What joy goddess thou hast risen
Thy breath beauty and warmth unite
Ere blending colours rather artisticly
The month of Floreal brings to life
Though evevtide still if cool
Tis hardly worth to note
When sooth'd by nature's symphony
The advent of spring denotes
From violet blooms and meadows stray flowerly
Scents endearing winter long hast stay'd
