Sonnet - A Letter From Earth Poem by Allen Steble The Philosophical Poet

Sonnet - A Letter From Earth

Dear fellow dwellers of mine - (Humanity as a whole)
You must change now while there is time -(Cleaner energy sources)
Your midnight black pillars of smoke - (Fossil fuel factories)
Are making my green airways choke - (Beautiful Forrest trees)

I've given you many warnings that have gone ignored - (Rising seas, melting ice)
The diseases within stab at me like a double edged sword (CO2 high, temperatures rising)
My circulation slowing, My tectonic bones quake (Ocean currents and earthquakes)
My weathered withering surface skin...oooh how it aches (Droughts and extremes)

My fever is reaching close to sixty degrees (Average temperature highest ever)
And climbing ever higher like the redwood trees (Exponentially soon enough)
Don't take this personally tenants, but head my instruction (We all know better)
If you don't change now, it will be your impending destruction (We do it to ourselves)

You were wonderful tenants a long time before
So it's just one thing I ask, help me heal, I implore!
