Sonnet: God Allows Afflictions Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: God Allows Afflictions

Afflictions come sometimes because of God,
Who wants to make ripples in our soul’s life;
And test our faithfulness to His mouth’s words,
And therefore, He gives us some kind of strife.

If sufferings keep endlessly coming,
God wants us improve our soul’s earthly state;
So, He delays giving His grace/ blessing,
As much as He can to a later date.

But God’s aware of every Goodman’s plight;
He watches every second, his foot/step;
Repent for sins and make your soul aright;
And God will soon give you the needed ‘pep’.

Nothing is big for the Almighty God;
He thinks a lot before He gives His rod.
