Sonnet: Good Democracy Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Good Democracy

If faiths divide a nation populous,
And vote-based politics may use caste-card,
Communal factors play roles treacherous,
Living a decent life becomes quite hard.

Democracy must secular remain;
Freedom to voice dislikes or likes must stay;
All sexes need respect and not disdain;
A citizen can choose in life, his way.

If common man is hurt in ways galore,
And innocents suffer much everywhere,
As neighbors too like foes may threaten more,
Then freedom got becomes futile stale air.

Democracy good is by people all,
And elections shouldn't prosperity stall.
