Sonnet: The Paradox Of Life's Metamorphosis Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: The Paradox Of Life's Metamorphosis

Those days I was not rich but very young;
My heart was happier and my mind not sad;
With fervent prayers, to my God, I clung;
I did not care about the world so mad!

These days, I am well off but almost old;
My heart is heavy, happy isn't my mind;
Experienced much in life, I am quite bold;
Solace in God and prayers, I don't find!

What future holds in stake, I do not know;
My sins and faults of past appear and warn;
My successes in life, to God I owe;
At times, I feel almost an old fool darn!

When God has blessed me better, shouldn't I pray
Much more, and thank Him truly for this day?
