Sonnet Xx I - Alas My Love, Thou Art A Passion Spent Poem by Valerie Dohren

Sonnet Xx I - Alas My Love, Thou Art A Passion Spent

Alas my love, thou art a passion spent
For passing time has quenched my burning flame
No more can I sustain this discontent
Nor hold within my heart such love again
So now with sorrow I must say goodbye
Forsake thy bed and walk away from thee
I never deemed to cause you so to cry
But now ‘tis time to set myself thus free
I must away to where another waits
For she has re-ignited all my fire
My passions and my love she satiates
And fills my heart with longing and desire
………… When passion no more moves the craving heart
………… ‘Tis then, my love, that we must ever part
