Sorrow Of Brahmaputra Poem by ANN MARY

Sorrow Of Brahmaputra

Walking along the bank of Brahmaputra with him
Hands in hands, fingers entwined, she danced around like a butterfly
The shepherd boy caressed her; she blushed and leaned against his chest
He randomly plucked some flowers from the meadow, made a bouquet out of it
And gifted her and adored her beauty as they indulge to eternal joy.
They together enjoyed the gaze of a fawn drinking water from the river
As they surpassed it, it circled them in joy and ran into the bushes
They sat on the meadow staring into each other's eyes,
Sharing their endless dreams and thoughts, together they gazed at the sky
Embracing the beauty of the shining stars that blanketed the sky

After a few minutes of silence, he kissed her forehead
And set out for his journey to build their dream home
He promised her to return and take her along with him
He set out in an empty boat, waved at her while rowing
Tears gushed out of her eyes while waving back at him
She sat there on the grassland waiting for her love to come back
Vivid thoughts rushed into her mind, she wept in agony
She shivered in the bitterly cold night, eyes drooping on the ground
The river looked ever so gracious as it mirrored the sky full of stars
The gleam of light shined over the white lilies and it looked magnificent

As the dawn break in and gleamed over her, she lay there tranquil
Like a dove in her white frock circumscribed by the lily flowers
As mother earth adorned her on her bosom like a silent chant
Her pale lonely body lie there bereft of soul, frozen and still
She became an eternal bliss, a memory wrenched on the vale
Brahmaputra flowed gently mourning in her loss!
