Soul Poem by Aparna Chatterjee

Soul

When
Your
Soul
Gets
Killed
You
Don't
Feel
Alive

In this
World
Of
Make-Believe
Where
People
Contrive
And then
Deprive
You
Struggle
To
Survive
No matter
How much
You strive

With no
Hope to
Revive
You lose
Your drive
And keep off
The hive -
And let them
Jive, lest they
Connive with
Their convive

In despair
You dive
And make
Way for
Others
To thrive

Then after
Your death
You are
Somehow
Kept alive
As your life
Is chosen by
