Souls Poem by Shiloh Thompson

Souls

Author's Note:
I'm thinking about celebrating. This is the 50th poem I have published here on Poem Hunter. May there be many, many more to come.

Two people walking down the hallway,
Their eyes not meeting across the distance,
Both knowing there is nothing left to say,
They just walk past each other, hurting.

On a Divine level, there is a bridge to make,
Their souls reach out in reckless desperation,
Attempting to reach past the walls of hate,
Clinging to each other with all their might.

The pair stops, their hearts twisting in pain,
He glances back; a tear rolls down her cheek,
They turn, both hoping for something to gain,
Their souls clinging to one another tightly.

He is startled by the tears in her soft eyes,
She clenches her fists at her sides in pain,
Both wondering if this move was wise,
They slowly walk towards each other again.

Their souls wrap around each other tight,
Drawing two hearts together once again,
Both beginning to shine with ethereal light,
The Divine binding the Real once again.

Once two souls have together been bound,
They will always be seeking the other,
Through pain, forgiveness must be found,
Because they will never forget each other.

Congratulations on your 50th poem on this site! I enjoy reading your work and will be happy to have the chance to read more. This poem is wonderful. I think you touch on truth herein. When people become close, sharing at a soul level, as in a mature sexual relationship, they do indeed become linked. If the physical bond is severed there is still a link and they are obligated to each other in some ways.
