Sounds Of Life Poem by ER Bron Chiong, RSW

Sounds Of Life

'Pot! Pot! Pot! ' 'Pot! Pot! Pot! '
breaks the silence of the early dawning
when the breadman announced his presence.

'Dadadadadad! Tuko! Tuko! Tuko! '
response the pestering old gecko
dwelling in a nearby fruit tree.

'Vrrroooommmmm! '
goes the plane that passed by the sky
in bringing people and cargoes around.

'Ungnga! Ungnga! Ungnga! '
wails the hungry half-awaken two-year-old babe
from a neighbor's unit next door.

'Bang! Bang! Bang! '
not gun shots but the rinsing of pats and pans
by a busy dad of three after a hearty breakfast meal
of beans and eggs with hot coffee, iced tea or cold mango juice.

'Happy birthday to you, dear brother,
happy birthday to you! '
A familiar tune of great joy,
for the special moment of blessing in one's life.

Instances that a community breaks into each new day,
the signs of a great and stimulating events
yet another work-filled but full of thrills and fun.
