Speeding Poem by Rachel Brewer

Speeding

Speeding, speeding so fast I knew something had to go wrong.
How could something not go wrong?
The wind flew past us and everything seemed like a blur.
It was only a matter of time now.
Time stopped.
The speeding turned into flying.
We were flipping through the air, and now there was nothing we can do about it.
I knew this would happen.
And now everything could be over.
Me, my life, my world.
Gone.
The car flipped towards the ground.
Every second charred into my brain.
Like a photo I would never forget.
On impact, the glass shattered in on us,
And the metal creaked like someone’s dying scream.
Red flashed before my eyes,
Red and death and crying and sorrow.
They were all the things in store for me now.
All because of speeding,
No happy ending for me.
