Sparrow Poem by Rachel Brewer

Sparrow

My life is over now,
But that doesn’t really matter, not to me.
I have done everything I was put on this earth to do,
And I am so proud of my family,
And all the wonderful friends I have known.
I became everything I dreamed,
And all of these dreams came true.
I was not rich, or obviously beautiful,
But I had an incredible life that most people long for.
I lived a good, full, ninety years,
With family always by my side.
And thanks to them I was always happy and loved.
So as I bid the real world farewell,
I am reminded of all the joy I was blessed with,
And all of the people I was fortunate enough to meet.
And I am so thankful.
My soul gets to sleep now.
And rest after a wondrous journey of time.
My essence is free,
Free to be reborn, and created into something different.
So I say goodbye, for now.
As the sparrow carries me up to heaven.
