They walk where the earth remembers,
where roots twist through forgotten names,
where stone crumbles but the echoes remain.
Shadows lengthen in the hush of dusk,
silent footsteps press upon timeworn paths,
whispers rise like mist from the ground.
Not gone, not lost--only unseen,
woven into wind, into water,
into the stories the trees still tell.
Some listen, some turn away,
but the spirits wait, patient as the stars,
watching, knowing, never far.
