Give just enough Lord for my need—
Enough my family to feed,
That I need sleep not empty maw,
Nor hungry my godly guests go.

Hereunder is given the original doha, a couplet by Kabeer, which when rendered in English takes all of four lines, a quatrain or more:
Sayeen itna deejiye, ja mein kutumb samaye
Main bhi bhookha na rahun, sadhu na bhookha jaye
Money is necessary, but more might become nuisance in many ways. This aspect is beautifully brought out to bear in mind in this couplet by Kabeer.
Topic: money, food, contentment
