Stalemate Poem by Amitava Sur

Stalemate

You’re moving so far away –
That I can not catch you up anyway.
My life is in a stalemate now –
Since when I’m without you.

So far some words were unknown to me –
Sadness, pains and sorrows- words like these.
That sadness had stunned me now,
Dipping me in the sea of sorrows.
The black hole where I’m put in now –
Don’t know how to come out even.
My life is in a stalemate now –
Since when I’m without you.

Acute cold is all around –
A black curtain is dropped in my front.
Winter seems to be settling for ever
Freezing my world as a lifeless stone.
The dry rose - petals are dropping down –
Right on my face, turning pale and brown.
No sweet smell I get any more
Though I’m lying underneath those rose
I get only the pricks of throngs –
No more that maddening smell at all.
My life is in a stalemate now –
Since when. I’m without you.

My drunkenness of love and lust -
Are dipped in to the ocean vast,
In a dreaded darkness around me
I'm drowning fast in the dark deep sea.
My life is in a stalemate now –
Since when I’m without you.

Life does comes to a standstill when our love dies, we become motionless, in a stalemate from which it seems we can never come out of. Very poignant poem Amitava, imagery is superb. RoseAnn

A nice and very passionate write. Love that was lost may be found later. Missing a lost love can be a very sad time. But don't despair love will come again. I have a poem thats titled Lost and Found. I loved your poem and felt it also.
