Stand Alone Poem by Jane Sparkes

Stand Alone

Rating: 4.0

Stand alone baby
Proud and head held high
Stride purposely forward
Let them watch you walk on by.

Stand alone baby,
Give it all you've got
You only have one chance you see
To get it right, be free

Stand alone baby
When its still before the dawn
Curl up in that duvet
The one that always keeps u warm.

Stand alone baby
You'll never get let down
Why trade a smug smile
For a lonely old frown

Stand alone baby
Wouldn't it be better not to know
Having felt so close to him
To have to watch him go

Another sad one, it invokes that terrible old cliche, 'is it better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all'. At least if you've never loved, you'd be spared the pain!
