Stand-In Stranger Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Stand-In Stranger

Rating: 5.0

Met someone I hadn't seen for a while
Recognized the voice and inflection...
but her face offered no real connection

My mind searched for outward recognition
Wrinkles and sagging skin had vanished
The mature face I had known was banished

Years of laughter and frowning were erased
Not a trace to remind of happy or sad times
Plainly ironed flat… she seemed in her prime

She reminisced about her monumental life
Her image spoke with a youthful resilience
of a life belonging to a neutralized existence
