Stardust Poem by Valerie Dohren

Stardust

The sky was oh so dark that night
The Moon, eclipsed, it bore no light -

With arms outstretched, I held them high
Up high towards the ink black sky -

Then gently sprinkled down a spell
Of rain, turned stardust as it fell.

The stars grew large in heaven's expanse
Then, swirling round, began to dance
And as they danced, around their form
A cloud of stardust gold was born.
It shimmered in the Moonless night
So turning all to sparkling light
Then silently it tumbled down
Just like an iridescent gown -
Upon the earth to cast a glow
Enshrouding all that lay below.

(It covered me in glitt'ring mist,
and all the land, with magic, kissed) .

I felt a tingling down my spine,
A sense of something so divine
That there and then it took my breath,
A sign that I was close to death?
But no, as quickly as it came
I heard a murm'ring of my name -
"Do not yet think that death is near,
I'm here to cleanse your soul of fear."
The stardust then with auric glow
Swirled round my form, stood here below.

(And thus I felt a sweet release -
My soul, I knew, had now found peace) .

Oh could this be a fleeting dream
Not manifest as it may seem -

Yet now, yet now I feel no pain
Wrought through the falling stardust rain -

Behold, my soul is light again!
