The eyes went
from light to dark.
As though breathing
is not happening in unison.
It appears that
a large number of friends,
family, and relatives
have arrived in the room
per the doctor's orders.
I'm surrounded by them,
and some are even
touching me.
Others prepare me for the final thirst-inducing voyage by moistening my lips with water.
Amid the tears of my son,
who I regard as my soul, and my wife, who is my life's purpose, the beat of farewell beats immortality,
I could see the stars in the sky through the hospital bed's windowpane, but my vision was blurry. I could feel their beauty growing beyond description.
