Startled Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Startled

Rating: 5.0

Suddenly, I awoke to a sizzling flash of light
Hissing with an intense pitch... glaring bright
At once, I tried to call out... 'something is wrong! '
Lips were locked and my vocal cords were gone

Sitting upright and staring at a darkened window
It revealed nothing; not even a reminiscent glow…
It seemed so real, my heart was frozen still
My breath was detained within... after the chill

Lying back onto my pillow, I questioned the night
What stirred my anxiety and gave me such a fright?
The silence answered with meaningless tranquility
I closed my eyes... searching for calming stability
