Statue Of Zeus Poem by Stan Petrovich

Statue Of Zeus

My Lord High-Thunderer,
You are in a deep well now,
Are you not?
The mad Caligula, a man of shallow waters,
Nevertheless had your head removed,
Not replaced.
You are the same as the whole messy string of gods there have reined
In the minds of madmen and greedmongers:
For the lot of You, I do not feel;
For the respect of You,
I will not kneel.
