Step Toward Perfection Poem by Elannia Lake

Step Toward Perfection

Sometimes I hear my little sister
She laughs a lot but sometimes cries,
Over little things
Like spilling a drink
Or scraping her knee
I remember when those little things
Seemed so huge to me
Little kids
They’ve got it so easy it seems
But then I realize
Some people probably think that about me
We all look at our lives
Think we’ve got it bad
But in reality, there’s always someone
Who has it worse
Than we have ever had
So when we think
How horrible our lives are
We should remember that others
Have it worse
Be happy we at least have what we do
Instead of wishing, longing
For so much more
Maybe then we could focus on
Making things better
Or at least living with how it is
The first step towards
The perfect utopia
Is giving up on disregarding
Everyone while helping yourself

Truer words could not be spoken...they say it's not about having what we want, but rather wanting what we have! ! ! Thanks for the look in the mirror....May your joys be many and your troubles be few...PEACE
