Stepping High Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Stepping High

Money, Money, Money
Won't make honey!
Might make you happy
For a while,
But I have been told it
Can change your style.

Of course, I would take a chance
On losing mine
I am adaptable and oh so kind.
I would help the poor and those
Most needy,
I gave two of them birth
And believe me,
Neither will qualify for poor
But somehow they find their
Way to my door.

Hello mother,
Can you spare a dollar
Will give it back as soon as...
Well its not always a dollar,
Sometime a little more,
But that's why God made mothers
Of this I am sure.

So if I had lots of money,
I would give it out where it would
Do some good...
Yes to the children I brought into the world,
Then those grandchildren and great grandchildren
To get a decent college degree,
With a little bit left for 'Knock Out Roses', when
They bury me.
