Stiff Upper Lip

One contracted one cold in Melbourne
or on one's way thereto
(10 hours in a coughin' carriage) .

One contracted another when one returned
or while one was coming back
(10 hours in a coughin' coffin) .

One cannot but blame the company
whose refusal to refund for any reason
forces the full-blown sick on board
when, if they could get their money back,
they'd make the sensible decision
and stay away from the railway track.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM

Confined within that sealed vessel bugs are near impossible not to swallow.
