Still Having Power In My Life - Poem by mona martinez

I give you so much power in my life,
and you are no longer here,
sometimes I ask myself,
what am I doing?
But you planted the seeds in my mind,
they continue to grow,
way after you left,
the feelings never fade,
I wish they did,
just so I won't have to feel,
everything you put me though,
the images remain,
so clear on most days,
and like a dream on others,
my body remembers the pain so well,
I'm haunted on most days,
I just want to appear normal,
I will never be normal,
that ship passed,
when you put your hands on me,
when you told me,
'everybody would die,
if I didn't do what you said, '
I always believe you,
it what children do,
they believe adults because,
it was the way of life.
