Stolen Daydreams Poem by Steve Coetzee

Stolen Daydreams

All the stolen daydreams
lately going nowhere.
All the missing passion
that consumed our loving.

All the dark emotions
dimmed a inner lightness.
All the missing moments
leaving nothing after.

All the quiet pauses
only silence lingers.
Every haunting absence
dormant questions waken.

Every glance averted
new forebodings bestir.
Every touch deflected
latent turmoil evoke.

Every cryptic sentence
that evokes a conflict.
Every discord, friction
tension, turmoil, anguish

all that's ripping us apart
Where did it go so wrong
when our love was so strong?
I ask only, only please
give back my heart.
