Stranded In South Dakota Poem by Dorsey Baker

Stranded In South Dakota

A black forest
of clouds hang low
over the city
losing all his money
in a late night
poker game
he finds himself broke
and stranded
in South Dakota
walking along the road
he is being splashed
by waves of water
from cars racing by
in a hurry to get
to where they are going!
before the weather gets worse
the clouds look like demons
conspiring they are
restless and moody
he is busy
trying to flag someone down
but its hard for people
to trust anyone
a stranger
might be danger!
so they just keep going
hopefully
he'll be able to flag
someone down before
too long
and before the weather
gets too bad!
