Strange Feelings Poem by Khaleeq Ahmad

Strange Feelings

*Strange feelings*

O my meek heart!
Why you always compromise?
Why you always reconcile?
Why you always stoop down?
Why are ye so mendicant?

Lo! Stooping down,
To maintain relationships!
Is it ignoble?
Nay, never!
For, I have observed even the ferocious Phoebus
Bowing down for charming Chang'e; Such a great gesture!

Had he not learnt the art of scooching down,
Were we to watch that enchanted beauty, the Moon?

Royal Krishna bowing down to poor Sudama!
Was that lowliness or holiness?

Towering tree bowing down to the lowly ground,
Majestic Crown bowing down to the ragged Knowledge,
Healing Heart bowing down to the beloved!
And, and...
Nature bowing down to the Spring...
Why? Why do they bow?

To Conquer the heart they admire,
Conquer the feelings they crave,
They, they 'stoop to conquer';
Conquer the soul they love.
