The First Glance Poem by Khaleeq Ahmad

The First Glance

*The First Glance*

That feeling, that awestruck feeling,
Oh! That breathlessness, I had never felt before,
That one innocent face, that radiant smile,
Stopped heart & stunned eyes,
Couldn't move an inch, what a prize!

It was a freeze-frame moment,
Oh! That one glance, that one full look,
Which got my nerves for ever, completely shook,
Unarmed at once, on a hook.
Legs refused to move with brain;
Heart throbbed like a train,
And sank like a ship,
As I stood there completely ripped.

What was that? That first glance?
Was it by chance?
We both heard that unheard voice,
That eerie silence which spoke louder than words, thrice
Ah! I surrendered my soul there and then,
To that glance, That first sight, the chain
Of that enchanted empress
Who became the queen of my heart's grace
that moment, and, and, for times immemorial.

It's certain the greatest gift Life has ever offered,
None would ever get, none had ever gathered...
