We might have forgotten
Put it into some dark place
In our minds
Best left never
To be found
Or uncovered.
Dust and cobwebs
Would make it
Unattractive
Not a shiny object
To flaunt.
We judged it
To be off limits.
Not to be discussed.
But then something
Jars it out
Of its dwelling place
Whether
A basement
Or an attic.
Its offensive nature
Once uncovered
Will need to be
Looked at objectively
If it is to be
Put into perspective.
Discuss
Like a history subject
A matter to be given weight
Only in that it happened.
It does not lessen you
You have survived!
You have come through!
You are not that act alone.
You are much much more!
Please know
You are not alone
For the number
Of those hurt
In a similar fashion
Are many
And we can be
Called upon
For support.
