Tears As Friends Poem by Melody McKinstrie

Tears As Friends

Tears As Friends

When tears became her friend
They were her companions
From her tear ducts they did deign
Until they snuck from under her eye lids.

They ran like a river
Down her cheeks
At first it was fast moving
And then it slowed
But there was no drought
Kayakers would wonder
If they could predict
The pace of its flow.

But there was no doubt
That a friendship had been made
For tears and her fate were intertwined
They came when she needed them
They were so very trustworthy.
Like a friend that sees you at your worst
And does not judge.

Like the river that flows
Bringing fresh water to shores
The tears did the same for her.
Bringing her a wetness
That will eventually provide
A new perspective.
