Subjectivity Of Smell

The smell of the fruit of the lupus,
dear Sam,
is pretty much the smell of toe-jam.
Lupus is Latin for 'hops'
(for 'wolf' too, by the way.)

Smellier than either (or the three)
are the overripe fruits of the ginkyo
(Japanese for the gingko or ginkgo tree.)
They smell like off jam-of-the-toe.

In a blind Smell-Off once,
I said a truffle smell was garlic;
so what would I know?
