Summer Days Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Summer Days

Fall has not yet begun
Flowers are blooming
Days are getting shorter
It is day for assuming

Geese are above my head
Forming a spreading V
Just what are they honking
Are they abandoning me?

Don’t tell me that story
Summer is not near an end
Days are warmer than ever
I close my eyes and pretend

Summer is forever mine
I’ll hold on to that thought
Endless hours of blue skies
And leisure are still sought

Convertibles with tops down
Joggers keeping up the pace
Walking to the corner store
Intrigued by Queen Anne’s Lace

Lazy days are soon to disappear
Okay, I know it is predictable
Can’t avoid the turning page
Days of change are inevitable
