Sunset Avenue Poem by Alex Grove

Sunset Avenue

You're faster than a bullet
Trying to reach but you're far ahead
If only you told me that I'll never
Shed the veil that bring in your head.

No one says life's easy
No fairy tales and beautiful pains
You made it harder with your cries
That brought to this man's demise.

No shame in these words of mine
You stole it long ago
Digging so deep into my soul
Not letting me into your own world.

I saw you walking down that Sunset Avenue
You blushed. Earthy as you were
For the arms of another man
In that hug I used to be.

Truth and untruth are always near
When you're wound with your own fears
But you tell it's all alright
In your realm of infinite.

My thoughts fly like birds
Across my mind's big universe
But I always want something
I just can't get

The flesh is so seductive
Beyond one's power to resist
And I hate the flesh as an enemy
Praying that it will leave me in peace.
