Sometimes Poem by Alex Grove

Sometimes

The Gods will offer you pleasures
Sometimes.
Take em, grab em, hold em;
because you can't defeat Death
but you can defeat Death in Life
Sometimes.

Read the books of broken men
Sometimes.
The poets, the lovers, the junkies;
because you can defeat Life
but you can't defeat Life in Death
Sometimes.

Roll the dice with the end
Sometimes.
Gamble it, trick it, win it;
because you can't defeat Death
but you can defeat Death in Life
Sometimes.

You owe Death a big debt
for all the times you break her will,
hiding in dark corners
with your face on the floor.
