Survival Poem by jessebelle bar

Survival

Unclear.
You acted like you wanted me,
Then you’d disappear,
Pulling my heartstrings
And drawing tears.

A well of emotion that wouldn’t run dry

Overflowing.
When I heard you lie
You were no loss to me
Yet I sat and cried.

Tears.
Of confusion and pain.
Not sadness, but admonition.
You clouded my mind
In my fragile condition.

A dropp of venom was so expertly spewed,

Like the dagger
Of an assailant
Found its way
And pierced my peace,

Sucked the livelihood out of me

Cleansed the wounds
And cleared away the fog
Helped me see the truth
Beyond your claims

Unclear intention

Became known motive

This well is stone dry
And poisoned eyes shall no longer cry.

Love’s pain has my heart stiffened
Yet without you I’ll remain alive…
