Swagger And Its Limitations Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Swagger And Its Limitations

Few learn,
Without mistakes to make.
Or lessons enforced,
Taught to teach.

Even fewer will hear,
Words to them spoken.
With a doing to comprehend,
The value of paying attention.
And the meaning of progress.
To do with steps made to take.
Done to refuse this to do,
As well.

There is 'something',
Others will keep disbelieved.
If one's agony is not carried,
On burdened shoulders.
Or bent over on backs.
To imagine painful scars,
Unseen to suffer through...
A process to endure.

Yet...
Those 'others',
With their unsubstantiated...
And shallow druthers.
Will falsely blame to claim,
Thoughtlessly to accuse.
That one who has obtained...
Life experiences to have.
Earned and gained.
To know obstacles overcomed.
Health issues to have healed.
As well as ups and downs,
Surrounded by negativity.
Coming out of the mouths,
Of frowning faces.
Knows nothing...
About sacrifice.
Knows nothing...
About tolerance and patience.
Or what life is like to live,
Listening to someone else...
Who doesn't dress to impress.
Or swagger as if...
They possess money and bling.
Salivating with a wish to want,
This to imitate.

Although will say,
To have believed...
That once ignorance to leave,
As is left behind.
The easier it becomes,
To recognize its limitations!
