Swallow A Sunbeam Poem by soren Barrett

Swallow A Sunbeam

Through rotting cloth, neatly stitched
The eye of justice sees
The dissolving shadow of democracy
Stained by the sun's disease
Liberty beaten with her self imposed fetters
By hands of the tired, poor, huddled masses
Lifts her torch to set aflame
Young children in their classes
A coat of politically correct paint
O'er wounds Janus does bestow
To say they have fixed all defects
And hide falseness that lies below
