Take Flight, O Nightingale, On Wings Of Fire Poem by Mohammad Younus

Take Flight, O Nightingale, On Wings Of Fire

Take flight, O nightingale, on wings of fire,
Return to the garden, to Love's desire.

O soul alight, O bird of the skies,
Why wander the wastes where the exiled sigh?

Let Kawthar's stream, unbound, reclaim,
And turn the desert to fields of flame.

Let bitter grapes their sweetness unfold—
A draught so pure, it mends the soul.

Let the sun of the soul its radiance bestow,
Dissolve the night in a golden glow.

See how this wine through the cosmos streams,
Drowning the world in Love's vast dreams.

Thorns will yield to the rose's embrace
When Beauty unveils a single Face.

O Love Eternal—none but You
Lives in these shadows, false and true.

Unveil the joy in sorrow's guise,
Summon the dawn with Your sunlit eyes.

You flood the dark with undying light,
You make the soul's moon burn bright.

You raise the beggar to a king's domain,
Yet in Your heart, both are the same.

To see You—lend me Your sight, Your gaze,
Your voice to hear the hymn You raise.

The lovers' cups brim with Your wine,
A song pours forth from the Root Divine.

The drum of the soul beats—'Return, return! '
Each fragment longs for the Whole to learn.

Where rose meets rose, where vine meets vine,
No dream remains of ‘yours' or ‘mine.'
