Tea Bird Haiku Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Tea Bird Haiku

istening to the children
counting to 10
the bird hides amongst hedges

caught by a child
the bird runs up
into the sky

playing tag
amongst cloud & sky
swallows

near now far
far now near
bird plays with distances

noises of the outside
inside
the inside noises outside

“Tea? ”
bird in tree
answers: “Oh yes please! ”

bird in tree
answers: “Oh yes please!
to all our questions

only our questions
prompt bird
to speak

as we chat
the bird listens
intently

as soon as
a question emerges
the bird answers...
