Teach Me To Whistle ~ Nauči Me Da Zviždim

Winter slightly enters the bone.
We walk on a dry asphalt.
Our ears are frozen at minus ten.
Your nose is red and you say:
"Teach me to whistle."

There is a cold, january day.
In the thick fog disappears
right bank of the Danube.
We walk and go down the night.
You say persistently:
"Teach me to whistle."

The deaf and blind midnight are approaching.
We are walking, but nothing can be seen
except for dry and cold asphalt.
You persistently push
two fingers into your mouth:
"Do you hear, I did it? " I whistle."

With frozen lips I answer:
"Yes, well done you, that's wonderful.
Can we go home now? "

You nod and happily run
from your feet to your feet
as if you were a child.
I smile because I haven't heard anything.

I was just awake dreaming
our most beautiful, winter night.
That night you said:
"Teach me to whistle."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nauči me da zviždim
Zima pomalo ulazi u kosti.
Šetamo po suvom asvaltu.
Mrznu nam se uši
na minus deset.
Crveni ti se nos a govoriš:
"Nauči me da zviždim."
Nestaje hladni, januarski dan.
U gustoj magli tone
desna obala Dunava.
Šetamo dok spušta se noć.
Ti uporno govoriš:
"Nauči me da zviždim."
Bliži se gluva i slijepa ponoć.
Šetamo a ne vidi se ništa
osim suvog i hladnog asvalta.
Ti uporno guraš dva prsta u usta:
"Čuješ li, uspjela sam? Ja zviždim."
Promrzlih usana odgovaram:
"Da, svaka čast, pa to je divno.
Možemo li sad da idemo kući? "
Klimneš i srećna trčiš
s noge na nogu kao da si dijete.
Smješkam se jer ništa nisam čuo.
Ja sam samo budan sanjao
naše najljepše, zimsko veče.
Ne noći si rekla:
"Nauči me da zviždim."
