Tears Poem by Cory Fox

Tears

Raindrops drumming on the car ride home
No one beside me; I’m on my own
Alone with my thoughts- a listless moan

Too tired to smile, too busy to care
Looked in the mirror and met his blank stare
Ignoring the signs of premature age
The man inside is so nearly free
But he’s still not who you want him to be
As long as you remain locked in your cage

A raging fire roars inside
And keeps him bursting at the seam
But all to show for what he’s tried
Is another hollow victory

He suffers alone with no end in sight
Denying the urge to give up the fight
Until at long last the wrongs are made right

How I long for the days
When our arrogant ways
Kept us so stupidly vain
If given the chance
I’d rethink my stance
But now only ashes remain

I wish I could cry
Pour out all my fears
But my eyes are dry
These words are my tears

I throughly enjoyed this poem. The four ending lines are my favorite.
