Tears In The Sea Poem by Adelina Amare

Tears In The Sea

Rating: 5.0

She stood on the dock, the violent wind tangling her hair.
No one could hear her cries of pain and despair.
She could taste the salty sea air and hear the waves crash against the shore,
Yet they could not drown out her thoughts of the night before.
People danced and laughed out in the street.
They did not know there were tears in the sea.

She lifted her eyes to the sky, painted gold,
But not even that beautiful sight could warm the cold.
A boat floated past, but no one within turned around
When her soul produced a faint sorrowful sound.
She stared beyond at oblivious tree branches swaying in the breeze.
They did not know there were tears in the sea.

Around her, night began to fall.
She did not seem to hear its distant call.
The stars and moon were the only ones that heard her sorrowful cries.
They endeavored to shed silver light upon her mournful eyes.
They guarded her, looming over her like the branches of a sad tree.
They saw her tears in the sea.

Her mournful cries rang out through the night,
Yet not a soul cared about her grievous plight.
No one stood at her side, a comforting arm draped across her shoulders.
Her woeful calls for someone increased in volume as the night grew colder.
At dawn, children rose from their beds happily.
They did not know there were tears in the sea.

She cursed the birds for singing their cheerful song.
They did not know or care she had been out here all night long.
The brightness of the Sun cut into her eyes without care.
It was oblivious to the fact that she was in despair.
All of the burdens laid upon her shoulders brought her to her knees.
No one cared that there were tears in the sea.
