La telephone m'a dit que tu etais morte
Maintenant je hais la tete de toutes les telephones stupides
Je prefere a etre assis ici qu'a me tourner a un bloc de pierre
Que cueillir n'importe quel serpent de telephone.

Adrian Mitchell is a considerable English poet of the antiwar movement, and also anti-monarchist. His poems live on as strongly as ever.
He has heard on a phone call that his friend was dead. Now he hates the telephone and he prefers to just sit and ignore the telephone ringing.

When it comes to human sentiments and emotions, parting or passing away of someone very close becomes unbearable. The impact is immense. A very poignant poem indeed.
