Tempest 2 Poem by Dibakar Purkayastha

Tempest 2

When the sailor sailed out to sea on the deep
With land no longer in sight
But everywhere nothing but ocean, nothing but sky
Loomed overhead a dark livid rain-cloud
The herald of night and storm
The darkness riffled the water
Strong wind rolled billows aloft
Tall mountains of sea rose up
Thunder clouds blinded the eye
And rains all night blotted the sky from view
And glare of lightening would flash
From the storm riven clouds
Pitched off sailors course, drifted on water unseen
Night or day could not remember the way
through midst of water
Oh lord! Tempest everywhere.
