Terror At Night Poem by Moth Harris

Terror At Night

There's a light turned off inside my room
A dark vision of what's to come too soon
A broken television and hidden under the covers.
My light my life, my heart a knife
Why am I so scared of you?

My closet creeks, I feel the wind on my cheeks
Inside my dark room, a bird flies by my window
As dark as the night itself, soft feathers, razor beek.
Looking for the terror it seeks
as it's watching me for him.

My eyes grow dim and I start to see
The things of who I used to be, my worst nightmares
my fears and terrors all come to life, and I bleed
I need you, but you're not around, nowhere to be found,
Safe at home, and I'm in my room.
