Thank You Poem by Diana van den Berg

Thank You

Like that
single
soft
contralto
note
on dragonfly wings
as pure
as a raindrop on a leaf,
that you want to hold
in cupped-hand protection
in reverence
and remembrance
in the silence
beyond Forever...

so are my sacred minutes
with you –
welcomed
into your sacrosanct homes
your quivering lives
your throbbing, fractured, sensitive hearts
the meandering pathways of your vibrant minds
the weakness of your strengths
the strengths of your weaknesses
the moon shadows of your souls
the resonation of your God-spirits
your precious secrets
- some puppy-play happy
some graveside sad
some soul-shaking –
all of which
I will guard
with the honour
bestowed upon me
with the gift.

Pipsters
you are my sunburst joy
my rain-grey sorrows
my mountain-tops
my river valleys
my forest solace
my soul-sobbing cleansing
my gallery of the past
my starshine forward
my escape flight from reality
to the celebration of reality
my new-eye panorama
my dance of freedom
my security guard
my butterfly-rhinoceros courage
my eagle-flight inspiration
my thunder drums
my lightning torch
my rainbow tears
the rising and setting of my glorious Brother Sun
my azure Paradise,

but most of all,
my flesh-and-blood friends.
