Thanksgiving Poem by Alaina B.

Thanksgiving

Rating: 5.0

I'm so thankful
Thankful for the pilgrims
Thankful for the land and the harvest
Fertilized by blood and carnage
Made bountiful through genocide
I am grateful for my ancestors
Who celebrated betrayal and deceit
Who sowed the soil in lies and thievery
I am thankful for the feast
For we feast on the bounty of the dead
As they fertilize our soil in their pain
Their blood gives us wine
And their bodies give us food
Be thankful for what we've been given
For the ash and blood of a pillaged people
And be thankful
For this feast of bodies.
