That's My Brother! Poem by Samantha Wallace

That's My Brother!

The Bible's full of verses that speaks of brotherly love,
It's the kind of love we get from our good Lord up above.
It's what helps us to be kind and always friendly,
And enables us to love others unconditionally.

In God's family we are all as one,
Brother, sister, father, mother, daughter and son.
So no matter whether we're strangers or related,
In the Bible, it's very clearly stated.

The word brother means we're all one family,
We should consider no-one as an enemy.
We should do unto others as we'd like done unto us,
We should love everyone and show no bias.

We are meant to be our brother's keeper,
And have a love for them that's so much deeper.
We should help carry their burdens to ease their load,
We must subscribe to the Brother's code.

It's not our duty to remove the specks from their eyes,
For they are not our enemies but our allies.
We should hold no anger towards another,
But treat them as we would our brother.

So when I see someone who's down and out,
With no sign of hope, just lazing about.
I pause for just a moment or two,
And ask God what would He have me do.

To feed, to clothe or just encourage their soul,
What can I do to make their life whole?
For I am God's instrument that demonstrates His love,
I am His hand, and He is my glove.

So next time I'm confronted with another,
I'll try to remember "That's my brother"!
I'll show them love and treat them as such.
We'll chat a while and I'll invite them to lunch.
