The 21st Century Rural Capable Kiwis Poem by Terence George Craddock

The 21st Century Rural Capable Kiwis

the child of the colonial era
the child of the 20th century in New Zealand
was told when things get hard
was told when go wrong
pull yourself up by your boot straps
it was a kiwi motto meaning
no matter how hard it gets
never give up struggle until you succeed

the child of the 21st century in New Zealand
often does not know how to tie own shoelaces?
does not know how to struggle endure?
when anything hard really hard happens?
throws it into the too hard basket?
does not even try just sigh gives up?

so often thank God there are rural kiwi exceptions
